Mission

Paisley Field’s Cavaliers is dedicated to improving the availability of healthy family companions with stable temperaments.

Paisley Field’s Cavaliers is a very small hobby breeder and professional dog trainer located near St. Louis, Missouri. We occasionally have healthy and happy AKC Cavalier puppies and Cavalier mixed breed puppies available for companions, pet therapy and the performance ring. We understand that many adore purebred Cavaliers, but potential health issues can be concerning. Our Cavalier mixed breed puppies are purposely bred for improved health from fully health tested parents. All of our puppies are raised using primarily Puppy Culture protocols by a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and honors graduate from the Karen Pryor Animal Training Academy.

Puppies are introduced to crates, walking on leash, litterbox trained indoors and started on outdoors housetraining. Resource guarding prevention protocols are followed, and puppies are positively introduced to nail trims, bathing and brushing. Puppies are raised to be resilient enrichment seekers so they will be bold and confident.

All of our adult Cavaliers have OFA-screened hearts, eyes, hips, elbows and patellar (knees). Hearts and eyes are screened annually and links to those results are available on this site. We follow the European MVD breeding protocol for healthy hearts. MRI screenings for CM/SM will also be performed. Genetic disorder screening is via Embark and MCAD screening through Gensol. Embark also provides genetic COI results, and as the Cavalier breed has an average genetic COI of ~40% (our dogs are 32% or less), our program is focused on continually reducing that number for improved health.

Our Cavaliers are family members and sleep in our bedroom and lounge on our couch. We enjoy long walks in the park, romping in the 1/4-acre yard, showing in conformation and rally, learning tricks and visiting hospice patients. Our program is focused on easy to raise and live with, healthy and happy family pets. Our Cavaliers enjoy car rides with no motion sickness, exhibit no anxiety or fear in thunderstorms or fireworks, are confident and comfortable when left alone and have no food or environmental allergies.
